MOU Signing with Quezon City DET Stakeholders

Last August 13. 2019, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) together with PCCI Human Resources Development Foundation (PCCI-HRDF) and PCCI-QC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Consuelo Chito Madrigal Foundation (CCMF). Part of the attendance of the event are the business owners who are part of the Dual Education and Training (DET) program and the organizer of the event, Mr. Marc Bernardo.

The MOU entails obligations for both parties to assist in the implementation of the DET program in the area of Quezon City as well as provide skills and capacity building to both in- company trainers and the students in order to ensure competitiveness, skill and efficiency to both parties.

The program began with a speech from the PCCI-QC’s president, Sara Delo Raya-Mateo stating her gratitude and excitement for the implementation of DET in the food industry of Quezon City. This was further expounded by the Executive Director of CCMF, Maria Soccoro Bautista where she believes that having the DET program implemented especially focusing on the food industry is a great contribution not only to the businesses but also to the students as well. Representing PCCI, Dr. Carl Balita then discussed on PCCI’s activities to the business owners while Dr. Alberto Fenix, explained the benefits of the DET program for both students and business owners as there are already other clusters implementing DET which resulted in positive impacts for the businesses, the students and the local community. Lastly, Ms. Irene Belmonte joined the conversation and thanked PCCI, PCCI-HRDF, PCCI-QC and CCCMF on behalf of the QC local government for providing support to the local community because of DET and that the LGU looks forward to supporting the project.

At the end of the event, food courtesy of the food sector attendants was served to everyone in the MOU signing while everyone introduced themselves and their varying cuisines that they serve to their customers and expressed their delight in their participation in the DET program.
